The Battle Dress Uniform (BDU) is a camouflaged combat uniform that was used by the United States Armed Forces as their standard combat uniform from the early 1980s to the mid-2000s. Since then, it has been replaced or supplanted in every branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.

In Finland, black is the symbolic color for both armoured troops and combat engineers, and military units of these specialities have black flags and unit insignia.

Black uniform were used by Hussars and Black Brunswickers, the German Panzerwaffe, and U.S. 400th Missile Squadron, and continues in use with the Estonian Kuperjanov Battalion.
